Snowe Commends Maurice Dubé on Appointment to SBA District Director; Commends Mary McAleney for Her Dedicated Service

WASHINGTON, D.C.– United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Ranking Member Olympia J. Snowe on July 3 congratulated Maurice (Moe) Dubé on moving home to Maine to serve as the District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Snowe also thanked outgoing District Director Mary McAleney for her tremendous service to Maine and the nation.

“I am pleased that Moe is returning to Maine to serve as District Director of the SBA,” said Senator Snowe. “Moe is eminently qualified for this position, having served the SBA, with distinction, for nearly twenty years. Maine will certainly benefit from the knowledge and experience that Moe gained during his tenure as the SBA’s Deputy District Director of Maine and the SBA’s District Director of Massachusetts. I had the privilege of working with Moe during his previous service with the Maine SBA and am confident that he will continue to be an indispensable proponent for Maine’s small businesses.”

“At the same time I am excited about all that Moe will bring to the Maine SBA, I am also saddened by Mary McAleney’s retirement. Over the years, I have enjoyed working closely with Mary on numerous issues affecting small businesses throughout Maine and the nation. Her tireless efforts to serve Mainers will be sorely missed, but always appreciated. I am confident that Mary will remain an exceptional asset to the State regardless of what she chooses to do in the future, and I wish her nothing but the best.”

“Moe’s return is wonderful news for the many small businesses and manufacturers in our state who depend on the Small Business Administration and the many valuable programs it administers throughout Maine,”

Senator Snowe said. “I have had the privilege of working with Moe during his previous service with SBA and feel confident that his experience, expertise, and dedication will be a true asset for Maine’s robust small business community.”

Dubé, a Maine native and resident of Lewiston, served in the U.S. Army, military intelligence branch from 1968 to 1970, and retired from the US Coast Guard Reserves with the rank of Lieutenant in 1994. He graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1967. He is a 1973 graduate of Bates College, Lewiston, Maine. Dubé’s last assignment before re-locating to Maine was as District Director of the SBA’s Massachusetts District Office. Dubé also served as District Director of the Eastern Missouri District Office in St. Louis.
